Laydown Yard and Industrial Storage Overview
Sky Point Crane runs a secure laydown yard and an indoor warehouse for construction staging and project material storage. Projects slip and deliveries arrive early. When your site cannot take a piece yet, it comes to us instead of sitting on a trailer or in the mud beside the job.
We offload your equipment by crane, store it outdoors in the laydown yard or indoors in the warehouse, and set it on site with our own cranes when the schedule catches up. Material we receive includes construction equipment and industrial machinery, HVAC units, powerplant components, spare parts, and electrical or telecom equipment. Transformer, vessel, module and turbine component staging works the same way: crane offload on arrival, storage in the yard or warehouse, crane set on site when you are ready.
Your carrier brings the oversized pieces in and takes them back out. Sky Point Crane is the crane at both ends and the yard in the middle.
Crane Offload, Storage and Set: How the Service Works
Storage here is one sequence with three steps, and Sky Point Crane runs all three.
Crane offload. Your truck pulls into the yard and our mobile crane or forklift takes the piece off it. Offloading and unloading are part of the storage service, so your driver is not waiting on a crane you had to arrange separately.
Storage. The piece goes into the outdoor laydown yard or into indoor warehouse storage, depending on what it is and how long it has to sit.
Set on site. When your site is ready we load out, move the piece on standard-size trucks where it fits on one, and set it in place with our own cranes, from 30-ton boom trucks up to a 225-ton all-terrain.
What Happens When Your Equipment Arrives
Both the laydown yard and the warehouse are set up for tractor-trailer access, and the indoor facility has interior dock access for trailer delivery. Receiving and offloading are handled by our own crews with mobile cranes and forklifts.
Every piece is cataloged electronically as it comes in. Inventory control services and documentation are available through our customer web portal, so you can see what is on the ground without calling for it. Shrink wrap is available for material that needs protecting in storage or on the way back out.
Sky Point Crane crews hold OSHA 10 and 30-hour training cards and every operator is NCCCO certified. 3D lift planning and rigging services are available for the set at the far end.
Who Uses Our Laydown Yard
Project material staging is the common thread. The yard is used by general contractors and construction managers staging equipment ahead of a build, mechanical contractors holding HVAC units, energy and utility crews with powerplant components and spare parts, telecom crews with cell tower poles and batteries, and equipment owners who need a secure storage yard between jobs.
Machinery moving is part of the same work. HVAC units, cell tower poles, telecom batteries and oil and gas desanders all move the same way – crane offload, storage, then a crane set at the other end.

Outdoor Laydown Yard or Indoor Warehouse Storage
Two options, and most projects use both. The outdoor laydown yard is the staging area for construction equipment, structural material and anything built to sit outside, and it is a secured, fenced and gated facility with 24/7 video surveillance. Indoor warehouse storage is for equipment that has to stay dry and clean, with climate-controlled storage options available.

How Long Material Can Stay
Short-term equipment storage and long-term equipment storage are both available, indoors and outdoors. A short-term hold covers the usual case, a delivery that beat the schedule by a few weeks. Long-term storage covers assets that are between projects or held as spares.
We do not publish a standard minimum or maximum term. Storage is quoted against what you are storing and how long you expect to hold it, so request a quote and we will price the offload, the storage and the set together.
Trucking and Machinery Moving
Sky Point Crane hauls regular equipment on our own standard-size trucks, which keeps the offload, the move and the set with one company and takes a vendor out of your logistics planning.
Anything that needs a specialised carrier stays with your carrier. They bring the oversized pieces into the yard and take them back out; we handle the crane work at both ends and the storage in between. Machinery moving – HVAC units, cell tower poles, telecom batteries, oil and gas desanders – is our own work from offload through set.
